講題：Antenna Technology Towards Metantennas and AntennAI
摘要：
Since Hertz experimentally confirmed the existence of electromagnetic waves, the rapid evolution of wireless technology has continuously driven advances in antenna design. Many approaches have been developed to improve antenna performance and enable new functionalities. Yet, as system demands keep growing, further breakthroughs beyond today’s already impressive achievements are becoming increasingly difficult because of fundamental physical limits.
At the same time, new concepts and paradigms continue to emerge across science and technology. Identifying and capturing new opportunities for antenna innovation amid successive waves of technological trends is both challenging and exciting.
In this talk, I will share two examples of how first-principles thinking helped us uncover new directions for antenna technology through sustained exploratory effort. First, I will revisit our research journey from the physical concept of metamaterials to the successful development of a new class of microwave metantennas. Then, I will present our work on applying AI algorithms to generative antenna design (GAD), which ultimately led to the development of AntennAI.
