INTRODUCTION FOR ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVE (EM) GROUP

The Wireless Communication and Electromagnetic Compatibility Research Center at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology is established in 2003, aiming at building up a first-tier applicationoriented research center for antennas, microwave and system applications. Through the years, we keep a tight relationship with the industries, running a number of successful projects including chip antennas, radio-frequency identification (RFID), radar system, DTV antenna, etc. This research center has advanced and comprehensive facilities for EM measurements below 40 GHz.

Our Goals:

(1) Keeping tight relationship with industries; delivering high quality application-oriented research results through industrial-academic cooperation.

(2) Providing excellent human resource with practical RF engineering experience.

(3) Providing excellent academic research works at the same time.

Faculty:

Eight professors in the fields of antennas, microwave circuits, and RFICs, including IEEE Fellow Prof. Hsue Ching-Wen, Center Director Prof. Yang Chang-Fa, Prof. Huang Jhin-Fang, and five excellent young professors: Prof. Ma Tzyh-Ghuang (S.M.IEEE), Prof. Tseng Chao-Hsiung, Prof. Wang Chun-Long, Prof. Liao Wen-Jiao, Prof. Chen Hsiao-Chin. Currently, there are 50 master students and 10 PhD students, including some foreign students mainly from Indonesia and Vietnam.

Research fields: RFID, chip antenna, z-domain techniques, circuit miniaturization, RFIC, antenna array, EMI/EMC.

Achievements:

RFID researches in hardware and middleware, key partner of international RFID association.

Leading in z-domain technique.

Chip antenna and miniaturized microwave circuits, win-win relationship between university and industry.
