INTRODUCTION FOR ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVE (EM) GROUP
The electromagnetics research group of institute of communication engineering is leading by several outstanding professors. The research activities in the group cover major technical areas including multifrequencies, multi-functions, and miniaturization of microwave and radio frequency circuit and antenna designs. The educational goals are cultivating professional elites in the field of electromagnetics, achieving the eminence of academic research, publishing on world-famous transactions, and improve the overall group’s quality and competitiveness. The institute has 14 professors, around 60 Ph.D, and 100 graduated students. The institute has thousands of students graduated in the past and severs in local industry and research institute in Taiwan.
The research field covers five major technical areas including antennas, active/passive microwave circuits, radio-frequency integrated circuits, system integration, and solid-state components and circuits, as listed as below:
1. Antennas: Printed miniaturize antenna、multi-functional antenna、MIMO antenna、Antenna array、EMC / EMI、multi-band / wide-band antenna、Active antenna
2. Active/Passive Microwave Circuit: Filter and resonators、LTCC components and modules、Coupler and Mixer、Left-hand material
3. RFIC: Sub-/Millimeter wave integrated circuits、Radio-frequency integrated circuits、Transceiver designs
4. System Integration: Vehicle collision avoidance system、state-of-the-art V-band transceiver module
5. Solid-state components and circuits:semi-conductor component model and simulation:circuit simulation and optimization, bio-medical electronics, VLSI automatic design
The EM group provides best quality of microwave designs and measurements. The measurement equipment including W-band network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, high frequency oscilloscope, noise figure analyzers, probe station, bonding machine, anechoic chamber, signal generator, function generator, and high sampling rate A/D converter. Beside, we have close cooperation with National Nano Device Laboratories to perform all kind of high frequency measurement equipment.
