INTRODUCTION FOR ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVE (EM) GROUP
Established right after World War II, the EM Group of NTU has developed into a distinctive university center affiliated with the Department of Electrical Engineering and the Graduate Institute of Communication Engineering. Originally named the Radio Wave Research Laboratory and actively involved in researches on ionosphere wave propagation, the EM group was later well recognized for its pioneering researches on variational electromagnetics anchored by Prof. C.-H. Chen in 1980's, which later laid the cornerstone of
The vision of EM Group is to provide the state-of-the-art research for funded projects and the superior education for graduate and undergraduate students in EM theory and applications. Pursuing the research of excellence, the group was ranked #1 in the number of published papers in IEEE Trans. Microwave Theory Tech. among the universities worldwide since 2006 and in IEEE Microwave Wireless Comp. Lett. since 2007 (see the figure below). For the educational impact, the graduated alumni have become the most wanted innovative manpower of design and development among Taiwan's top telecommunication industry, EM
